“The MB is keen to meet each athlete and official for finishing as runner-up in the Malaysia Games. The athletes had performed beyond expectations,’’ said Norzamri.
In the Malaysia Games organised by the National Sports Council (NSC), Selangor finished second to Terengganu in the medal tally. Terengganu won 30 gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals while Selangor had 26 gold, 18 silver and 28 bronze medals.
Norzamri said they had targeted 21 golds but had won five more.
“The surprise golds came in table tennis, synchronised swimming and canoeing. Other sports like kabaddi, tennis and silambam also delivered the golds,’’ said Norzamri.
The MSNS, he added, would start preparations for the 2012 Malaysia Games in Pahang.
“We have a bright chance of emerging as the overall champions.
“All the state associations have been briefed and we want them to start their training programmes,’’ said Norzamri.
