“My schoolmates then liked the usual sports like badminton, bowling, or netball. I like archery because it is different compared to other sports that girls like. I like doing different things and felt that archery was a sport for me. “My cousin is an archer and my parents have never failed to give me moral support to take the sport seriously,” said Suguniisvari, who trains for two hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at school field.
She added that when she was in primary school, there were archery set available and it was waasy to pick up the basic.
And when she started to win medals at competitions, she felt proud and wanted to train harder to achieve better results.
Suguniisvari won the bronze medal in the girls’ Under -12 30cm event in 2010 MSSM and emerged second overall in the girls’ Under-12 team event in the 2010 MSSS.
“With coach G. Thyagarajan, who is a school teacher pushing me to strive harder to become a better archer, I will reach my aim of being a national archer someday,” she said.
