The champions’ team captain Lim Jing Zhe, 12, said they were delighted to have topped the category, but nonetheless worked hard for it.
“We made some mistakes during the matches and we can definitely do better,” she said.
A total of 48 boys teams and 24 girls team participated in the carnival at the Tan Sri Tee Hock Seng Indoor Basketball Complex at SJK(C) Taman Con-naught, Cheras.
They battled it out in a round-robin format before qualifying for the knockout rounds.
SportsUnite Sports Club chairman Datuk Dina Rizal said the carnival was an inaugural event for Under-12 athletes to promote unity through sports.
“The teams were required to have at least two players of different races so that they could interact with each other while playing the game.
“I will continue to organise and expand the programme and hopefully rope in more athletes,” he said.
The carnival was held in collaboration with Nestle Koko Krunch, with Koko Krunch being the main sponsor of the event.
