“We missed his services (due to an ankle injury) in the last two matches. We need his strong physical presence in front of goal and we’re glad to have him back for the important home game against the Singaporeans,” said Irfan yesterday.
He added that the Lions XII were the most disciplined team in the competition and warned his men to be alert in handling the visitors at the Shah Alam Stadium.
“We can’t afford to drop any more points. This is a must win game and we have to employ a strategic game plan to counter their speedy players. They are the kings at the Jalan Besar Stadium … but we’ll use our homeground advantage to shut them out,” said Irfan.
Selangor will also welcome new transfer window signing in former Sydney FC centreback Adam Griffiths, who will replace Slovakian Peter Chrappan.
“We have obtained Griffiths’ ITC and the Australian will be in the line-up against the Lions,” said Irfan.
Lions XII are going great guns leading the standings with 27 points, with Johor Darul Takzim (25) and Selangor (23) trailing closely in second and third positions respectively.
Doe, Selangor’s top scorer with nine goals, was substituted after injuring his ankle during Selangor’s FA Cup quarter-final loss to Johor Darul Takzim on April 16.
