Now, it is Megan's turn to dream of qualifying for the Olympics. Based on her impressive form recently, the Selangor junior diver's chances of emulating her idol Bryan Nickson Lomas and representing Malaysia in the Olympics one day look good. Megan, who won both gold medals on offer in her age group at the recent Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) diving championships held here, said competing in the Olympics is her ultimate dream.
"I am training very hard six days a week to achieve my dream of competing in the Olympics," said Megan, who started diving at the age of seven. "I hope to make the national (backup) team next year as it would be a step closer to the Olympics for me if it happens.
"I admire Pandelela (Rinong) very much but Bryan has always been my idol. "I hope to follow in his footsteps and be as successful as him in my career." The SK Bukit Kemuning student, who trains under coach Qi Jian Hua of China, added that she was happy with her progress so far.
"Last year, I won the bronze in the three-metre springboard and silver in the one-metre springboard (in MSSM), so to get gold in both events this time is a good achievement for me. "I feel that I have improved a lot. However, I will keep training hard as I hope to maintain my progress."
