In the final, she was up against teammate Siti Nurzulaika Ismail, the top seed. But Nur Dayana was in her element and 182-174 in the first roll-off. She was once again on song in the sudden death roll-off winning 223-189.
Nur Dayana certainly was excited with her win.
“It was indeed a surprise. I played well in the step-ladder final. I am looking forward to maintaining my top spot in the coming legs also,’’ said Nur Dayana.
Perak’s Arif Fauzi Shah, as the top seed, was impressive in his 209-164 win over Negri Sembilan’s Muham-mad Rhafiq Mat Rahim in the boys’ Open final.
In the girls’ Graded stepladder, both the finalists — Nur Izzati Nazari and Iffah Farhanah Mohd Farid — were from Selangor. Nur Izzati was the third seed and defeated Pahang’s Alia Nadira Azmi 184-163 in the semi-final.
In the final, she scored a slim 154-153 win over Iffah Farhanah for a sudden death play-off. In the play-off Nur Izzati once again showed her consistency with a 171-166 win.
Selangor’s Wan Mohammad Naqib Norazizan lived up to his top billing and defeated Kuala Lumpur’s Darwish Shafiq Shuib 190-180 in the final of the boys’ Graded category.
In the boys’ Under-12 , Selangor’s Muhammad Hazim Ali Hanafiah emerged as the champion with his consistent strike.
The youngster collected a massive 1,837 pins in the two round roll off to win the gold medal.
Terengganu’s Danial Hazim Yusri settled for silver on 1,790 while the third spot went to Perak’s Muhd Asyraf Hasmidi with 1,732 pins.
In the girls Under-12 category, Terengganu’s Nur Atikah Abdul Rahim was involved in a close battle with Kuala Lumpur’s Noor Farrah Ain Bakhtiar and Pahang’s Nur Diyana Jalaluddin.
MTBC deputy president Tan Sri Mohd Noor Rahim, who is also the Kuala Lumpur Tenpin Bowling Association president, gave away the prizes to the winners.
He was impressed with the big turnout for the event.
“The circuit is a platform for the MTBC to identify new talents. We are also happy to see parents coming to support their children,’’ said Mohd Noor.
The next leg will be hosted by the MTBC at the Sunway Megalanes on June 14 to 16.
