From this year, the programme will include the MOE Hockey League, MOE Badminton Schools Championship League and MOE Track and Field Circuit.
Dr Wee said this was the perfect platform for student athletes to make the country proud while producing more icons and role models in the community.
“Our investment should be rewarded with hardcore training by student atheletes while ensuring success at the international level, as evidenced by our youth sports icon Pandelela Rinong in diving. We want to see more athletes like Pandelela born in this country,” he added.
The competition will be conducted until November to determine the winner in each sport.
